Mariners Announce 2025 Coaching Staff

The Seattle Mariners have officially announced their coaching staff for the 2025 season. Most of the appointments are familiar faces from the previous year, but a few new names and role changes stand out.

Key Promotions and Changes

• Eric Young Jr. has been promoted to first base coach. Previously, Young served as the Mariners' baserunning coordinator. Before joining the Mariners, he was the Nationals' first base coach for the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Young played in the majors from 2009 to 2018.
  
• Louis Boyd has been promoted to major league field coordinator. This marks Boyd's first major league coaching job after spending the last six years within the Mariners’ organization, most recently as the minor league field coordinator.
  
• Kristopher Negrón will transition from first base coach to third base coach. Negrón, who played in the majors from 2012 to 2019, joined the Mariners' coaching staff in 2020 and managed at Triple-A Tacoma in 2021 before becoming the first base coach in 2022.
  
• Manny Acta will move from third base coach to bench coach. Acta has been a versatile part of Seattle's coaching staff for many years, holding various roles since 2016. He brings extensive experience from his time with the Expos, Mets, Nationals, and Cleveland.
  

Departures and New Roles

• Brant Brown, who was the bench coach and offensive coordinator, was fired in May 2024. Director of hitting strategy Jarret DeHart and assistant hitting coach Tommy Joseph stepped in to fill the gap until DeHart's firing in August and Joseph's hiring by the Orioles.
  
• Carson Vitale's role as major league field coordinator will now be filled by Boyd, following reports that Vitale is being hired by the Marlins.
  

Adam Jude of the Seattle Times relayed these changes prior to the official announcement, highlighting the internal shuffle within the organization.
