The Detroit Tigers have announced today that left-hander Bailey Horn has been designated for assignment. This move clears space on the 40-man roster for the newly acquired infielder, Gleyber Torres, whose one-year, $15 million deal has been finalized.
Horn, 26, joined the Tigers a month ago after being claimed off waivers from the Boston Red Sox organization. In his brief stint with the Red Sox last season, he made his Major League debut, pitching a total of 18 innings. During this time, he allowed 13 earned runs (resulting in a 6.50 ERA) on 22 hits and 10 walks, and struck out 13 batters.
