The Chicago White Sox have announced the signing of infielder Andre Lipcius to a minor league contract, via Daryl Van Schouwen, which includes a non-roster invitation to MLB Spring Training. This move brings Lipcius back to the American League Central, where he has spent the majority of his career.
Selected by the Detroit Tigers in the third round of the 2019 draft, Lipcius made his MLB debut with Detroit at the end of the 2023 season, posting a .286/.342/.400 slash line over 13 games. However, he was removed from the Tigers' 40-man roster last winter and subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who outrighted him just before Opening Day. Lipcius, a right-handed hitter, spent the entire 2024 season with the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City. He had a strong season, hitting 25 home runs and recording a .271/.351/.458 slash line in 140 games. He demonstrated patience at the plate with a 10.7% walk rate while maintaining a league-average strikeout rate of 22.8%. Despite his solid performance, he was not called up to the majors, leading him to elect minor league free agency at the season's end.
